Special Op/Community Action Report Alamgir Khan Discussion on Peace and Conflict Resolution with Gilgit-Baltistan Youth Parliament Members Having had the opportunity to join the Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) Youth Parliament as Vice-President, I was more than delighted to call together the members of Youth Parliament GB for a dialogue on Peace and Conflict Resolution, in addition to how we as young leaders of today can aid in the policy making of the region. The session involved dialogue on the thematic areas as the participants were encouraged to share personal insights and experience on the topics so that all conclusion drawn would be driven by experience rather than just theory. Keeping the thematic areas in mind, the participants shared their story of how to look towards peace and conflict-resolution keeping the current conditions of Gilgit-Baltistan in mind, and how we can adopt better policies and frameworks to accommodate or assist the process of peace, as peace itself is not an end result but a mindset that promotes harmony and tolerance. The outcome was a direct influence on the ideals and values of the Youth Parliament members, a more grounded and reality based perspective was reached upon through open dialogue on peace making and conflict-resolution which will eventually, in the near future, result in better policies when our members will take positions of power and are ready to influence the policies of the area.
