Introduction:
An activity was initiated in the department of Business Administration, Gomal University for
volunteers regarding peace building and our responsibilities as citizen. More than 10 volunteers
from University was engaged to give them a brief about Peace building, Social harmony and
countering violent extremism. The session was of 4 hours duration in which they were briefed
about peace building and their responsibilities. The approach was to just sensitize them towards
civic engagements along with their studies. By engaging youth in volunteer activities will
definitely impact the society in a positive sense regarding peace building, social cohesion,
interfaith harmony, and conflict resolution.
Goal of Activity:
The main purpose of this activity was to prepare young volunteers for peace building activities,
sensitization, and eradication of extremism.
Output of This Activity:
After the brief orientation and discussion the students were very much aware about their
responsibilities as a citizen. They all were very much enthusiastic to play a positive role in the
society for peace building. They are just in need of little motivation and guidance, which lead
them towards achieving the higher level of excellence in providing services to the community.
All the participants have pledged to work voluntarily in future for the peace building and conflict
resolution activities. Students were of the view that such activities are the need of the day and
must be carried out frequently to sensitize the youth for civic engagement and social
mobilization.
