Ahmad Saleem is a writer, policy analyst and a development practitioner; he has worked on Rural Support programs for women economic empowerment in 8 Districts of Sindh and has worked on Governance sector reforms at the national level with the Ministry of Planning, Development & Reform. He has also been part of a donor funded project of the European Union and has also worked with United Nations, Pakistan. In addition, he has written extensively on development and governance related issues in “The Nation” newspaper. Furthermore, he has also organized and given lectures in social action projects and seminars, covering topics like Peace Education and Countering Violent Extremism and issues of national significance like Kashmir as well as the provision of free and compulsory education.
Ahmad is a graduate of Government and Public Policy from the pioneer batch of National Defence University, Islamabad and has a certification in “U.S. Public Policy: Social, Economic, and Foreign Policies” from Harvard University. Also, he is a “Salamti Fellow” with Shaoor Foundation for Education and Awareness and Peace Without Borders. Over the span of his educational and career he has attended many professional trainings and workshops notably “Personal and Institutional Development workshop” at the Institute of Policy Studies, “Development Communication: Building Development Discourse” workshop conducted by Ministry of Planning, Development & Reform and The Inter-Provincial Youth Retreat, “Youth and Democracy” organized by National Assembly of Pakistan, to mention a few.
Mr. Ahmad has a kaleidoscopic field of interests, since his university years he has taken part in various MUNs and other literary activities. He has also earned many awards and tokens of appreciation such as two awards from the President NDU, and a “letter of recognition” by the National Defence University, upon his graduation. Moreover, he was also the part of “Prime Minister’s Kamyab Jawan Programme delegation” that visited the Peoples Republic of China on a 6-day tour representing the Government of AJ&K and Government of Pakistan. He solemnly believes in a greater sense of responsibility as a propagator of peaceful coexistence through sustainable and gender-mainstreamed development.
