Asad Ali Khan is a passionate volunteer working in different capacities for the peace building in southern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. By profession he is working as Assistant Director Quality Assurance in Gomal University, Dera Ismail Khan. By Qualification he is currently doing his M.Phil in management studies.
To address the multi-pronged challenges, Asad Ali Khan campaigned to spread awareness among the people of district Tank and Dera Ismail Khan regarding peace building. He spoke for their rights and called on them to shun those elements which are the reason behind their difficulties. He conducted many focus group and roundtable discussions, and entered into dialogue with members of civil society and local communities. He also used sports and social gathering as a tool for peace building. He was also part of the United Nations world conference on youth for the thematic area “Peace Building and Reconciliation” in Colombo Sri Lanka.
He recalled that the various trainings relevant to conflict resolution and peace building processes taught him diverse ways to build dialogue and highlight the challenges posed by conflict in these southern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Moreover, the training also enhanced his confidence in speaking publicly about conflict resolution. “I feel that by using these methods and skills, I can explicitly discuss the matter to increase awareness amongst the masses.
Referring to the benefits and outcomes of the trainings, Asad Ali Khan said that the pace of his campaign for awareness has increased. He has conducted many awareness sessions in schools, colleges and public gatherings to sensitize the people about the root causes of conflicts and violence and how we can overcome this mess.
