Profile Brief | Maqsoom Hussain is a student of anthropology from Quaid-e-azam University, Islamabad. He has been financing himself since he was 16. From being a laborer at a gas shop and photocopy shop, now he owns his own photocopy shop at the university he studies in. He managed his education till intermediate privately on his own as he was working. Has been an active and core organizer of Aurat March since 2018 advocating and amplifying the voices of the oppressed and marginalized women community in a patriarchal society. Have taught in Rimsha Community School in H-9 and Slum areas of G-11/4, Islamabad to ensure accessibility of education to the people from every class, and make them self-aware and be a better member of community. Maqsoom has Been conducting a study circle at QAU since 2017 for awareness on social issues of gender based violence, poverty, educational lag of girls, issues of transgender community, economy and role of students in its prevalence, political structures and systems. He has been actively participating in positive conflict resolution in his native town Kanianwala, Pind Dadan Khan, and had advocated the issue of girls dropout ratio from primary schools there.
