Profile Brief

Nayyar Abbas started his social work when he first joined Young Reformers as an executive member. In Young reformers, he promotes educational opportunities in his province. Abbas worked as an office bearer for Rotract Club and Locus Economic Society in his bachelor’s degree, where he worked for Polio awareness and provided community services at different levels. He did an internship with World Wild Fund in his bachelor’s degree and evaluated the impacts of climate change on life on endangered species in Pakistan.

Being a victim of sectarian violence, he has inclined to comprehend the causes and reasons for sectarian violence in his community. He aims to find solutions for the sectarian violence and religious extremism in his community. Keeping this dream in his mind, he pursued a Master’s degree in Development Studies with a major in Peace and Conflict. During his Master’s degree, he researched the causes of sectarian violence in his community. His research findings have proven to be a successful case study for the wider world to gain peace in a diverse religious setting. He worked in the Sustainable Development Goals Secretariat in the National Assembly of Pakistan, where he studied SDG goal 16 which is Peace, Justice and Inclusive Societies. He did virtual summer workshop on Shi’ism and Middle Eastern politics, and attended the 2nd International Symposium on Diversity and Unity in Transnational Shi’a Islam with Weatherhead Centre for International Affairs at Harvard University. He has completed courses with King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz International Centre for Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue.

He advocates for freedom, liberty, and pluralist society. He attended Interprovincial National Youth Retreat organized by Pakistan Institute for Parliamentary Services (PIPS). He participated in a Dialogue with Youth about Co-Existence with Multiple Identities organized by Pakistan Institute for Peace Studies (PIPS). Currently, he is working with Students for Liberty as a Local Coordinator. He identifies recruits for the coordinator program, educates and helps them develop themselves into competent and effective leaders. He has conducted various virtual seminars through this platform, such as Vaccines and Liberty; Ayn Rand’s Ego, and Allama Iqbal’s Khudi.
