We recently arranged a visit to Kartarpur Gurdwara, a tour to have the exposure of one of the holiest places of Pakistan. For that matter, we took Salamti Fellows from all three cohorts to Gurdwara Darbar Sahib to promote religious harmony and element of tolerance among the youth and spread a message of peace by embracing the significance of Peace Corridor. In order to extend the mission of peace, we intended to experience the spirituality, tolerance towards each other, diversity and inclusivity at the most sacred place considered by the both sides of the border. In the increase of religious intolerance, such activities are significant to counter it and promote interfaith harmony, acceptance and inclusivity at large. Considering the significance of Kartarpur, Pakistan is home to some of the holiest sites of Sikh religion and Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur is believed to have been built on the site where Guru Nanak breathed his last in the 16th Century. It is considered to be the second holiest site for Sikhism after Gurdwara Janam Asthan. After years of planning, this peace corridor allowed Sikh pilgrims from India visa-free travel to Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib. There, we had a meditation session to merge our souls and minds with the peaceful aura of Gurdwara. Salamti fellows and team members interacted with Sikh Yatris from India which led to very meaningful conversations with positive outcomes. To share the messages of love, Sikh Yatris had beautiful testimonials as “hum aik hain”, “Pakistan bohot pyara hai”, “hum Pakistanio ka acha sochtey”, such messages are hope of peaceful rays between the citizens of two adverse countries. We are encouraged enough to extend such messages of peace and believe that this kind of initiatives should be increased to magnify the impact of peace across the globe.
We thank Haris Bin Saqib for coming up with this amazing idea of promoting love and harmony and making it possible.
