
Mr. Mukhtar Ahmed Ali has an M. Phil degree in Development Studies (with distinction)
from the Institute of Development Studies (IDS), University of Sussex, UK. He has over
20 years of work experience in areas of elections, local government, democratic
development, legislative oversight, right to information, budget tracking, governance,
decentralization, policy reforms, capacity building, and consumer protection. He is
currently working as an Executive Director at the Centre for Peace and Development
Initiatives (CPDI). Previously, he has served as Team Leader/ Technical Advisor of the
Consolidating Democracy in Pakistan (CDIP) Project (2017-2020), Information
Commissioner at the Punjab Information Commission (2014-2017), and Chief of the
Party of the USAID’s ‘Strengthening Citizens’ Voice and Public Accountability Project’
(2011-2014). He has also served on the committee that drafted the Punjab RTI law and
Whistle-Blowers Protection Bill. He has served in the government as Information
Commissioner (Punjab) as well as on the Federal Tax Ombudsman's Advisory
Committee. He was also among the Board members of the Institute of Rural
Management (IRM), Visiting faculty member of, among others, the National Institute of
Management (NIM), Lahore; NIM, Quetta; and National Management
College (NMC), Lahore.
