A community project was conducted with the students of Social Work Department, University of Peshawar on “Volunteering for Peace; Importance of Volunteerism for Sustainable Peace”, which included topics like Stereotypes, Prejudices about Volunteering, Working for a Cause along with an introduction to Salamti Fellowship & Shaoor Foundation. Project Partners Department of Social Work, University of Peshawar. Location of Activities Department of Social Work, University of Peshawar. Aims and Objectives • To give living experience by learning together as a group. • To enable participants to understand stereotypes and prejudices about volunteering. • To enhance knowledge of participants regarding responsibilities and importance of youth leadership’s role in volunteerism for sustaining peace. • To improve spirit of volunteerism. Overall Methodology Adopted The methodology adopted was presentation, focused group activity to assess the prejudices and their removal, photo stories of volunteerism in action and practical on had examples from the field. General Feedback of the Participants The feedback of the participants in the activity was very passionate and positive. They were grateful for the activity and deemed it important for their academics as well as personal lives, 3 they were happy to have been sensitized to this particular issue and its importance for the wider cause.
