Objective:

The main theme of the discussion was how to encounter the extremist violation within Pakistan, what kind of steps should need to take for seizing the extremist violence in the country.

Background:

As, when we look across the history of the Pakistan, we saw antecedent measures, of the extremist violations, inclusion of amateur political decisions, state sponsored extremism, and the proxy wars of the foreign intrusions. Extremism first started to prevalent in the era of Zia’s regime, when they decided to opt the Islamic system within country, and for that, they first had to terminate the secular and national ideologies, due to, the reason of those parties persistently opposing the enacted extremist Islamic laws in Pakistan. Zia regime, at initial stage dispersed the extremist views via allotting the licence for the religious institutes all over the country, which basically obligated to spread out the religious fundamentalist doctrines, for encountering the socialist and nationalist ideologies, which in later years modified in some of the extremist zealots autocracies.

The second wave was raised up by the war between sects of Pan-Sunni-ism and Pan-Shia-ism, which were basically the proxy war of Iran and Saudi Arabia, which still existed and we are still experiencing those schism repugnancy within society. Abhorring fact is that, all these extremist upheavals were had a great state support and sponsorships.

Nature and Numbers of the Activists:

The discussion was conduct in a close group friend’s format, where around 7 to 9 of activists participated.

Outcomes of Activity:

The discussion was based on national approach, that how to prevent extremist violence. The issue was discussed in depth, the major cause roots were explored and following outcomes of the discussion is given bellow:

  1. There should be the need of teaching an eloquent history of prevailing extremism, by informal channels of education, such as (workshops, awareness sessions, and training campaigns) which will help the people to understand the consequences of the issues.
  2. The second suggestion was of educational reforms, like to halt to praise and justify wars and superiorities in the syllabus, also instil the pupils about the both sides of realities and stop being bias.
  3. Whereas, legislatives should be involve in all levels to reduce regional and external tensions, in police and judicial system reforms, Madrasas reforms, stop government toleration of violation groups and counter extremist narrative, also take a strict-action against the literature, newspapers and magazines promoting hatred, extremism, sectarianism and intolerance. Long lasting solution to violent extremism requires moving beyond a short term security dominated approaches.
