Profile Brief

Altamash Khan is a fresh graduate of Social Work, and is currently working with Global Schools Program on integrating UN SDGs in primary schools curriculums, has actively worked on children’s formal and informal education within the local slums of Peshawar, social entrepreneurship has been the center of his effort to create innovative and sustainable solutions for social problems like unemployment, the pursuit led to his idea of “Communication Skills” being shortlisted in The Youth Innovation Challenge Khyber Pakhtunkhwa supported by UNDP (United Nations Development Programme) and KPITB (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board), and as result 200 students were trained from 3 different departments increasing the chances of academic growth and employment, he has also been a United Nations Civic Education Youth Volunteer, his responsibilities included creating awareness in the local rural communities about the civic education and its relevant topics such as good governance, active citizen engagement, human rights and voter rights.

He has been resiliently involved in the advocacy for transgender rights, child rights and against “Gender Based Violence” through short plays conducted in the universities, as a social worker he also worked with Hamza Foundation Peshawar supporting thalassemia patients, with CPWC (Child Protection Welfare Commission KP) on rising issues of child abuse and exploitation and with Paraplegic Center Peshawar on supporting paraplegic patients. He has been a part of effort in realizing minority rights, social cohesion and interfaith harmony through constantly engaging university students as agents of change-makers in their communities. As a Salamti Fellow, he’s pursuing to sensitize people against violence, to clamp down the calamities of extremism and to make way for a peaceful society.
