Profile Brief

Arooj Mujeeb is teacher of Psychology and Social Wok and a PhD scholar at National Institute of Psychology, Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad. She is trained for pedagogy, research, and civic engagement from University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO, USA). Her immense interest in research has resulted in multiple theses and publications on marginalized communities of Pakistan including acid burn female victims, internally displaced persons, families of missing persons, transgender individuals, and orphans; to name a few.

She strongly believes in dialogue, training, and preventive approach to achieve the goal of harmonious and non-violent communities. Thus, her teachers’ trainings concentrate on conflict management, problem solving, and development of pro-social behaviors to achieve harmonious classroom environments for children who are in their learning phase. Training of trainers is a hallmark of her professional career for which she has worked with some renowned organizations of Pakistan including Pakistan Air Force and Federal Public Service Commission. She has previously worked as a volunteer trainer for a UK-based project titled “Rising Girl”. Its pilot project was launched in Pakistan in 2021 to conduct training sessions on empowerment for female university students for which she was part of core team of trainers.

Another area, closer to her heart, is designing and conducting psycho-social awareness campaigns for local community. She has conducted and supervised around 35 awareness campaign uptil now. She has closely worked with some renowned organizations in Pakistan, alongwith her students, to fulfill objectives of the awareness campaigns. This year; she and her students collaborated with Karim Khan Afridi Welfare Organization (KKAWF), World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB), NOWPDP (Network of Organizations Working for People With Disabilities in Pakistan), Noreen Zindagi Welfare Trust, and Red Crescent Pakistan. Aimed at provision of social services, she has initiated her own social media platform on Facebook titled PEENG (Pushing Everyone Enthusiastically for Nascent of Gains) for emphasizing the value of education and mental health through webinars with subject experts. She foresees herself working for betterment of local community.
