Profile Brief

Sana Sattar is a student currently enrolled in 7th semester of Food Sciences and Technology from University of Agriculture Faisalabad. She is a resident of Faisalabad. Social work has been her centre of attention since past years. She is working on education of those children who cannot afford to read and write, particularly child laborers and children of slum areas under the umbrella of Umeed Foundation, providing free and quality education in evening hours. Till date, 20 free schools are operating in different regions of Pakistan with more than 3000 children getting free education with the cost of their education fee, stationary and uniform cost. She has also worked with UNDP as United Nations Civic Education Volunteer under the project named SELP (Strengthening Electoral and Legislative Processes) which aimed to raise awareness among underprivileged communities about Civic Education, rights and responsibilities of citizens, active Civic Engagement, NIC and voter registration. In her seven months tenure, she’s been able to educate more than 2600 people about civic education in compliance with SDG 16. Sana sattar is currently working with NCJP (National Commission for Justice and Peace) as Human Rights Defender under the project of HEAT to raise awareness about issues of minorities among underprivileged areas. Currently she has also been working with CHRE (Centre for Human Rights Education) to raise awareness about peace and Tolerance among society in order to minimize violence and extremism. 

She has dedicated her work to promote education, peace and Tolerance, basic human rights being more particularly child rights and transgenders rights by engaging youth of universities and colleges. She has also been working with less educated people to make them aware about basic human rights and responsibilities to put society into a better place. She is also involved in extracurricular training of slum children to build confidence, integrity and self esteem among those children. She has been a part of efforts to promote minority rights, interfaith harmony, social integrity and peaceful dialogues among youth of institutions so they can play their role as peace agents in society.
