Profile Brief

Shehryar Zulfiqar is a peace agent with special interest in inter faith, inter sect harmony, tolerance and coexistence. Shehryar is keenly interested in playing his part for an accepting society open for critical thinking, tolerance and dissent. He has been engaged with various programs working for peace and tolerance. He has been a participant of Shahoor Foundation Salamti Fellowship Cohort II.

Shehryar is also an official member of Amnesty International and has been working with the organization since 2016 in various campaigns through digital activism. He has also volunteered for CPDR (Centre for Peace, Development and Reform) working on first-ever UN human rights report on Kashmir in June, 2018. He has been a part of campaign “Aik better together” organized by Hive Pakistan that uses the vision of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah for building community resilience and counter-messaging against extremist narratives. As a student of Chartered Accountancy, he is interested in countering economic inequalities in society. He has participated in various events on tax injustice and income inequalities organized by CDA. He is an active member of Fight inequality forum. He has volunteered for more than 50 community engagement programs since 2015.

Shehryar is passionately involved in political and social activism. He has been a part of many civil rights movements in Lahore. He has been on the forefront and amongst the organizers of peaceful walks and protests organized by civil society of Lahore on various issues including Mashal Khan’s lynching, Lahore Bomb blasts and Sahiwal killings.

Shehryar is playing his part for a peaceful and progressive society through his poetry and short stories. His socio-political and literary work is connecting communities within Pakistan through message of coexistence and inclusivity by molting barriers shaped by chauvinism, fundamentalism and radicalism.

Shehryar has developed various skills through his involvement in all these programs which includes the ability to work together with diverse groups, accepting attitude, long-term commitment to and passion for cause based and mission-driven work. He regularly organizes sittings with students from different universities on peace, tolerance and harmony. He loves literature and travelling.
