Profile Brief

Sidra Khan is a women’s right advocate and a peace-builder. Her special interest lies in peace activism and women empowerment. Her social work is focused on achieving SDG 5 and 16 which are gender equality and peace, justice and strong institutions. For the past one year, she has been closely working with marginalized women and young people to build their capacity, vocational skills, critical thinking skills, entrepreneurship skills, and STEM education. She has been successful in bridging the gap between the SDGs and their implementation in marginalized communities by organizing various awareness/advocacy camps, sessions, seminars, panel discussions, and workshops in Karachi.
She has also worked as a journalist in leading media houses and her experience has enabled her to understand the grass root issues faced by women and youth in Pakistan. Women empowerment has been at the core of her news coverage and now, social work along with peacebuilding amongst youth. She has acquired various skills through her nonprofit experience which includes the ability to collaborate with diverse groups, self-initiative attitude, long-term commitment to and passion for cause based and mission-driven work. Sidra carries major interests in the subjects like peacebuilding and women’s right. She regularly organizes training sessions on peace building, and critical thinking for marginalized youth and awareness sessions for marginalized women to turn them into resilient communities. Sidra is also alumna of Salamti Fellowship Cohort III.
