As violent extremism is gaining unwanted traction in the backdrop of heightened cultural and religious conflicts worldwide, there is a need to educate generations for peace which is also becoming a top notch priority for governing institutions simultaneously. One day session on UN charter on SDG 16 which promotes “Just, peaceful and inclusive societies” was organized by Rajwanti Kumari at Agriculture University of Sindh, Tandojam. Diverse audience included teachers and students participated along with the Dean and Professors of University. They were able to share their views and perceptions in terms of educational opportunities and development

Special Operation

DIVERSITY & PEACE
The session held on 1 4 November 201 9 in Sir Syed School Tandojam
Hyderabad Sindh, I started the session, in a formal way, with introduction of
myself and then topic. Then I gave small introduction of Shaoor Foundation
and its goal.
The topic and content of session was according to age group of participants
in session, I target the audience between eight to fifteen years, there were
30+ students and few of teachers. It was conducted in a classroom. Which
was colourful and beautiful. The session, training based workshop.
I started with word ‘’DIVERSITY’’. Most of students respond nothing, when
they heard the word, it seems that they heard it for very time, they had many
questions regarding it . we also discussed about different cultures, nations,
ethnic groups, religions and practices people do perform. There was a small
activity related to diversity, to divide students in different groups, according to
there favourite colors, favourite fruits, favourite teacher, student did chose
the colors and made group accordingly. Then I tried to make them
understand that how we can live togather by having different interest and
attitudes. How we respect others opinion.
The second half part of session was related to ‘’PEACE’’. Most of students
respond well, they did know the word before. They didn’t know exact
definition of the word but they heard the word before. We did proceed with
types of peace then, peace in our country Pakistan at the end peace in the
world. Students activity participated and responded for questions. The
students also responded well about, factors which cause the peace and
factor which leads to unpeaceful environment. They asked multiple questions,
how we can create peace? What should be our role? How we can contribute
to make our country peaceful? etc.
I really enjoyed in whole activity, it was a wonderful experience, we did
photography session at the last of it with all the students which I have shared,
students were given open choice to ask the ask questions to see what they
are thinking, about Diversity and Peace, They tried to relate both words. They
asked questions about the things discussed in session. Then I gave colourful
chits to them to give the feedback about the session. The feedback was very
positive, there is great need to conduct such session.
I am very very thankful to Shaoor Foundation for giving me chance to conduct
such a productive activity in my hometown school. If I will be selected as a
final candidate for fellowship, I would like to be part of it.
