Dr. Qibla Ayaz

Dr. Qibla Ayaz holds a PhD in Islamic and Middle Eastern Studies from Edinburgh, UK, and has recently completed his second tenure as Chairman of the Council of Islamic Ideology, Government of Pakistan, since April 19, 2021. His first tenure spanned from November 2017, to November, 2020. Dr. Ayaz has also held prominent academic positions, including Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Islamic and Oriental Studies at the University of Peshawar until his retirement on October 5, 2013. He has served as Vice-Chancellor of both Islamia College, Peshawar (2014), and the University of Peshawar (2012-2013). Dr. Ayaz’s fields of interest encompass constitution, law, governance, education, religious diversity, conflict resolution, interfaith dialogue, social harmony, and citizen diplomacy. His extensive international exposure includes academic visits to over 20 countries, such as the UK, USA, Germany, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey. His scholarly contributions are highly regarded, with citation indices showing 13,928 citations in total and an H-index of 54. Dr. Ayaz’s work in fostering interfaith dialogue and communal harmony, alongside his academic and administrative roles, underscores his commitment to education and societal development.
