Karachi Peace Summit included an extensive month-long pre-planning process which involved finalization of program agenda, speaker’s selection/short listing etc. In the entire process, the team provided guidance and facilitations to Zarmeena which included agenda finalization to streamline the topics and theme of the peace summit. Team also helped her in identifying the theme for panel discussion & talks, alongside speakers and experts while connected her directly with them. Moreover, in terms of graphics and certificates, it got finalized with the approval of team AmnQalaab after careful consideration. Zarmeena was encouraged to collaborate with local organizations and partners who believe in the same cause. With reference to this, she secured sponsorship from “Eyewood” and “Meri Baithak” which provided photography and management services for event respectively. We highly encourage our fellows to reach out local organizations and start-ups in communication action projects in order to sustain their initiatives and work. After the fellowship, Zarmeena initiated the idea to create a platform to talk about peace, tolerance and harmony in the society. She created a community organization named “Teach Peace”. The main purpose of the organization is based on an idea to bring peace through dialogue and discussion and to promote diversity through accepting the differences. It delivers a vision of equal and inclusive Pakistan. Karachi Peace Summit was organized under this campaign as a first landmark event. An extensive social media campaign was being carried out that helped the team in creating successful pre-event hype, they received 300+ registrations from all different parts of Sindh which showed a great level of interest common public carries in terms of social peace building. The event was attended by more than 100 people which was indeed a wonderful turn-out. 10-15 volunteers were taken onboard, who worked diligently throughout the event. The summit remained talk of the town for many days and a lot of people including speakers and attendees shared their experience and feedback about the event on their social media platforms.
