Cohort IV
Cohort-IV of the Salamti Fellowship Program was based on the theme of “Interfaith Harmony” where the 30 participants came from 21 districts and represented 6 different faiths including Christianity, Islam, Sanatan Dharma, Humanism, Zoroastrianism and Sikhism. The fellowship was held from 24th October to 30th October 2020 at the Retreats Hotel, Nathia Gali.
This particular Cohort was designed to instill the importance of inclusivity, inclusion, and tolerance among the 30 fellows who belonged to different backgrounds and faiths. Also, a sense of critical thought about the values of peacebuilding, conflict, and combating violent extremism was evoked and encouraged. Fellows were educated on how people of various faiths and religions in Pakistan can live peacefully together under one roof. Whether it is the aspect of self-exploration and concentration through meditation or dialogue sessions and joint national internal security policy suggestions, from understanding to embracing the differences and opinions of each other, this 7-day journey has contributed enormously towards a shared objective that is a peaceful and tolerant Pakistan.
For this particular Cohort we had amazing subject matter experts lined up which included Syed Ali Hameed (Executive Director SFEA), Khurshid Nadeem (Scholar/Journalist), Dr. Munazza Yaqoob (Founder and Director Critical Thinking Forum, International Islamic University, Islamabad), Muhammad Hassan Miraj (Author/Writer/Playwright), Dr. Adnan Rafiq (Development Specialist/Co-author National Security Policy 2018), Harris Khalique (Secretary General HRCP/Intellectual/Writer), Dr. Maria Saifuddin Effendi (Associate Professor National Defence University, Islamabad), Naveed Taj Ghouri (Writer/Intellectual), Wajih Nizami (Musician), Zafar-Ullah Khan (Ex-director PIPS), Farnood Alam (Writer/Intellectual/Blogger), and Saira Zahid and Devender Kumar from Cohort III and II also shared their valuable experiences with the new Salamti fellows.
We expect our Salamti Fellows to replicate the lessons and apply them positively in their societies and communities to contribute towards a peaceful Pakistan. It’s their moment to serve the community and eventually attain our common aim. People are the greatest investment in life, as it is said, and we have all invested positively in each other’s lives through this seven day residential training program. To know more about the fellows of Cohort-IV, their expertise, incredible work and profiles, have a look at the list below:
